There is an amusing alternative for golf-players who miss the game during winter time: since 8 years the Schneeberg Hotel Family Resort & SPA offers the possibility to play golf on snow on its 9 hole field. To play on snow players will be wearing wintry outfit instead of checked trousers, golf equipment will be carried on a sledge and coloured balls will be used to spot them easily on the white cover. Rules on these condition are little softer than usual: the distances are shorter, the rough is made of deep snow instead of grass, instead of “greens” golfers will be playing on iced surfaces called “whites” and no proof for handicap will be needed. This cold variant of golf is not new, as it is known that Rudyard Kipling used to play golf on snow in Vermont to relax while he was writing the Jungle Book. Adi Hengstberger awaits more than 800 participants for the 8th edition of the “Golf on Snow” tournament from march 14th till 17th. Along with the tournament the participants may enjoy helicopter flights, ski-doo rides and parties on the sunny terrace with VIPs such as Andreas Brehme or Sven Ottke.
